<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>   Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a heterogeneous autoimmune disease characterized by variable clinical manifestations and a complex pathogenesis not fully understood at the moment. Various forms of cell death play an important role, eventually leading to the presentation of the autoantigen to immunocompetent cells, the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and an imbalance between the effectors and regulators of cellular immunity. The study of SLE pathogenesis pathways includes the search for potential objects for targeted therapy. This review briefly discusses the current knowledge about the pathogenetic mechanisms of this disease, including the researches latest to-date.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>аутоиммунные заболевания</kwd><kwd>инфламмасома</kwd><kwd>клеточная смерть</kwd><kwd>патогенез</kwd><kwd>системная красная волчанка</kwd><kwd>таргетная терапия</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>autoimmune diseases</kwd><kwd>cell death</kwd><kwd>inflammasome</kwd><kwd>pathogenesis</kwd><kwd>systemic lupus erythematosus</kwd><kwd>targeted therapy</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Tsokos G.
